Coco Peat

Coco peat or Coir Pith a bi-product of Coconut produced while making coir and other products. The processed coir dust becomes Coco peat and is a very good growing medium for plants. It is an excellent soil conditioner and is being extensively used as a soil-less medium for agric-horticultural purposes. With its moisture retention qualities, coir pith is ideal for growing anthuriums and orchids.

Coco Peat helps the soil retain moisture for a much longer time because of the water absorptive and retentive nature of the fibre. The properties of Coco Peat make it resistant to bacterial and fungal growth. This Coco peat products are used in Reptile Bedding, Roof Top Gardening. Being a good absorbent, dry Coco peat can be used as an oil absorbent on slippery floors.

Coco Peat has a high water retention capacity to plant growth that can retain water 8-9 times of its weight and can even be reused for 4 years. Root systems easily holds and gradually releases water and nutrients to the roots due to its alkalinity.

Cocopeat is shipped in the form of compressed bales, briquettes, slabs or discs; the end user usually expands and aerates the compressed coco peat by the addition of water. The fibrous coconut husk is pre washed, machine dried, sieved and made free from sand and other contaminations such as animal and plant residue. It has a pH of 5.7 – 6.5 ,EC level <1 mS/cm is ideal for plant growth.
